Bobcat Kaleb

Way to go, Kaleb! He earned his Bobcat award at Pack Meeting last night. He was so excited. He really loves to work on passing things off with his Dad. We (translation: I) decided Rob should be in charge of Scouting, since he has experience and since I'm doing music and school stuff with the kids. So we told Kaleb he could give the "Mother's Pin" to Daddy if he wanted, or to me, and he decided to give it to me. I thought that was sweet.

After the presenting of awards, the boys all got to make ice cream - in Freezer bags! It was really cool. I guess the Cubmaster Donna found the recipe online, and in the Scout manual or something. It was fun. We all got to make one, and it was pretty tasty!
We're happy that Kaleb has found something fun and beneficial to be involved in, and hope his enthusiasm will continue all the way through Eagle Scout and beyond!

By the way- the big white blimp is me... 28 weeks pregnant. :) And, no, I'm not 4 inches taller than Rob- I was standing on the incline of the grass.

RODEO!

On Friday night, the 20th, we went to the Herriman RMPRA Rodeo. The kids enjoyed it. I think the fireworks at the end were their favorite part. My favorite part is Mutton Bustin'. I think next year we'll try to get Macy and Isaak to enter that event. lol!

Gma Michelle bought the kids cowboy hats. She got to ride in the "Dignitaries" Wagon, since she's on City Council. She's the one in the red shirt and sunglasses waving at us. All the kids said, "How come Grandma gets to ride in the wagon?" Little do they know that she got special permission for them to ride with her during the parade this coming Saturday morning. I'm sure they'll be thrilled!

Institute

Macy and I went to the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute all week last week. For pics and notes of what we did, see here.

Happy Father's Day! (Late Blog)

These are pics of all the kids with Robert on Father's Day. We had Stake Conference that day, and both of us were in the choir. Rob was nice enough to sit with the kids in the congregation by himself for the majority of the meeting. It was nice to be home early from church. We spent the afternoon and evening at my parents house talking and eating and having fun. The kids all gave Rob cards they made for him. I gave him a new shirt and a book called "The Crystal Bible" to help with his gem research for the book he's writing.

Is that Wall-E ???

Kaleb has been complaining a little bit about his eyes bothering him when he reads, so we decided to take him to the eye doctor on Friday the 13th. Must have been a lucky day- Kaleb actually has the best eyes out of all the kids! He's a tiny bit far-sighted, but Dr. Graham said she wouldn't worry about it for now. At first Kaleb was pretty disappointed... turns out he really wanted glasses like Elise and Isaak... :) But, when I took a couple of pictures of him and he noticed his resemblance to Wall-E, he was happier. He even showed me how well he can do Wall-E's voice! We'll have to go see that movie when it comes out.

Next up is dental appointments for all the kids, which I'm thinking they're not gonna be so thrilled about... We already know Elise needs 3 or 4 fillings. Oh well...

Kaleb DID lose a tooth the other day, and he got a whole dollar from the Toof Fairy, so he can't complain too much! :)

Lagoon with Gma & Gpa!

My parents took the kids to Lagoon on June 6th. Lagoon is the local amusement park. Rob and I were going to go, but I had to teach, he had to work, and pregnant ladies can't ride the rides anyway. So, Mom and Dad were nice enough to brave it with all 4 kids.

Mom made a Teddy Bear Picnic for lunch- with bear shaped PB&J sandwiches, bananas, and fun snacks. They went on lots of rides... some of which the kids were worried about at first, like the Ferris Wheel, but once they got on it, they loved it. They also rode the Train, the Ladybug ride, the whale ride, the ski-lift ride that takes you from one end of the park to the other, and the Haunted House (which I heard they were all afraid of).
Rob came home from work a little early, brought me lunch from Cafe Rio, and we watched Live Free or Die Hard together before the kids got home.

Preschool x 2

Macy has enjoyed involving Isaak in preschool lessons. I think it's fun for her to have someone to learn with. And Isaak is having fun too. It's a little hard for him to concentrate, as so far he hasn't had too much i his life that required concentration. I'm trying to teach him how to write his own name, and he's doing much better with tracing letters. We do various worksheets that I print from the internet, and read books, and talk about letters and words. We're doing a little bit of math stuff too. I think they both like having someone to play with all day, but of course there are the typical sibling skiffs every now and then.

We've learned about "A" and "B" so far. Next week it's "C". I'm using some curriculum from here, and also here. It's nice not to have to put too much brainpower into what we're learning- all the work is done for me!
One more thing we did was to re-write the words to "The Itsy Bitsy Spider"... here's our version.
"The Wacky Tacky Spider climbed up the big old tree.
Down came the sun and made him hot and tired.
Out came the sprinkler and cooled the spider off,
And the Wacky Tacky Spider climbed up the tree again."

Summertime!

We have been a full-time family of 6 for two weeks now. It's going pretty well. We've all had some adjustments to make, but are hopeful that this situation will be permanent, so we're trying our best to make it work. The kids have been pretty good about helping with their laundry, setting the table, keeping their rooms clean, etc. There have been a few new talks about following directions, accepting "NO" answers, and being obedient, but those are always good reminders.

Rob was Super Dad last weekend. I came down with a cold evolving through sneezing, congesting, not sleeping, migraine headache-ing, coughing, miserable laying in bed all day, making my back and body sore, etc... So Rob took care of all four kids all day Sat. and Sun. They mended the tires on Kaleb and Lisey's bikes, and went on a bike ride together. He also did laundry and kept the house fairly decent. I was so grateful for his help, and the chance to just lay in bed and read books, even though pregnancy makes that less than comfy. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be on full-time bedrest. (Thanks, Emily, for letting me borrow your pregnancy body pillow- that helps a LOT!)

We're all grateful that the nice, warm weather is finally here! The kids have had a great time playing outside as much as possible: riding bikes, coloring with sidewalk chalk, running around the yard using their imaginations, eating popsicles, and going to the park right next door.

The past couple of days have been rainy, but we haven't been home much anyway. We're hoping that tomorrow will be sunny and warm, but not hot... we have a special day planned with Gma and Gpa if it is. If not, I guess we'll improvise!
